Healthy wellbeing information
Warren Road Primary School is a recognised Healthy School with Gold Award status.
At Warren Road, we work hard to support staff, children and families to lead happy, healthy lifestyles. We do this through our weekly PSHE teaching, regular Wellbeing Newsletters, posting information about healthy lifestyles on this web page, organising events throughout the school calendar to engage staff, children and families.
Being a Healthy School is more than just encouraging healthy eating habits and getting enough exercise throughout the school day. We also want the school community to embrace a holistic healthy lifestyle for the whole body and mind. Our Pastoral Team are available to signpost the school community to support Mental Health and Wellbeing.
We have a Healthy Eating (food) Policy which we follow to ensure our children have healthy food throughout the school day, this can be found on the school website under policies. All children bring water bottles to school and during the morning are encouraged to eat a fruit or vegetable snack. Fruit and veg is provided for free in KS1 through the Free Fruit Scheme government initiative. Our school dinners provide a balanced and nutritious meal each day and these along with packed lunches are monitored to ensure that all children at school are provided with a healthy balanced lunch. We do not allow sweets and chocolate for lunch or snack and no longer allow sweets or food-related treats to be brought to school to celebrate birthdays. Instead, we encourage the birthday boy or girl to gift the class with a book, game, pack of pens etc
Playtimes are extremely important for personal and emotional development. We have developed our provision at lunchtimes to include lots of opportunities for physical and creative play. Our Creativity Sheds and wide range of clubs provide our children with quiet spaces and creative and imaginative play resources to use with their peers.
We are collecting lots of help and information to continue with our Healthy Schools initiative. Please click on the different tabs below to see what goodies there are for you to download so far. If you have any ideas that you would like to contribute, please contact Miss Waterman via the school office.
