Warren Road Primary PTA Projects

Library Transformation Project

The school raised the prospect of transforming the school libraries with the PTA earlier this year; with the PTA funding some or all of this project. Mr Thomas has been working hard with outside companies, drawing up plans and getting quotes to refurbish the junior and infant libraries. Attendees of the PTA December meeting voted unanimously to support the project in full by committing £20,000 to meet the costs.

The PTA believes by making a fun, comfortable and inviting reading area, it might encourage more of our children to pick up and book and enjoy the pleasures it will bring.

The Swimming Pool

Back in the 1980′s, The PTA commissioned the Warren Road swimming pool. Since this time thousands of Children have used the pool, both for fun and learning. The PTA continue to maintain this pool for all Children of all ages to enjoy.

Each week, every one of our KS2 children receives a swimming lesson from our qualified swimming teachers.

The children learn all strokes including, freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. This helps them become competent swimmers by the time they leave Warren Road.

The swimming pool is also hired out to local companies, with the revenue going directly back into school funds.

Staff Room Renovation

The staffroom was revamped last year as it was not working well in its previous set up as a working space and relaxing/social space simultaneously.

The staff room now has a designated workspace area with desks and laptops alongside another designated area for relaxing/socialising.

Art/Therapy Room Renovation

The Art/Therapy room was renovated with new furniture and art equipment last year. This was funded by the PTA for the use by the children for a range of art, craft and therapy activities.

Playground Equipment

In May 2021 the PTA approved the funding of new wooden play equipment in the main and infant playground to replace some of the previous equipment. This has proved very popular with the children.

Holi Celebrations

The PTA have been looking to be more culturally diverse with activities involving the children. In March 2022 several parent helpers and PTA members joined years 2-6 in the main playground, and year 1 in the year 1 playground drawing Holi designs in chalk supplied by the PTA.

As you can see from the photo above the children created some wonderful designs and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
